Precision Subreflectors

Cassegrain antenna feeds working at high frequencies require sub-reflectors with excellent r.m.s. surface accuracies. Also they must be as light as possible so their support spars present minimal aperture blockage.

Milliflect is a major supplier of precision sub-reflectors for applications such as satellite earth stations,

radio telescopes and radar systems.Standard designs are from 13 inches to 158 inches in diameter.

Surface accuracies are as good as 0.002 inch r.m.s. are available.

One of our customers required eleven non-surface of revolution subreflectors of 126 inches in diameter. There surfaces were finished to accuracy of 0.006 inches r.m.s. Each was measured at 2,100 inspections points.
